Donald Trump says he has a new idea for ending Russia’s war in Ukraine. But any peace proposal faces fundamental disagreements between Moscow and Kyiv that go far beyond what Trump calls a “personality problem” between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
US envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are holding talks with Moscow and Kyiv as Russia and Ukraine continue to exchange long-range attacks and remain deeply divided over the terms of any settlement.
So what are the biggest obstacles to a deal?
