Rep. Trahan: Federal AI Governance Is ‘Missing’
Democratic Representative Lori Trahan of Massachusetts discusses her bipartisan FRONTIER Act, which aims to create federal oversight of the most advanced AI models through reporting, independent audits and emergency safeguards.. Rep. Trahan calls criticism that the bill would broadly preempt state laws “completely false,” arguing instead it creates a “narrow federal lane” while preserving state authority in areas including privacy and consumer protection. She also calls for hearings with leading AI companies and broader bipartisan action on data centers, workers, and AI in schools.
