LIVE | King Charles & Macron View Bayeux Tapestry at British Museum in Historic Anglo-French Moment
King Charles III, Queen Camilla, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham have gathered at the British Museum to view the historic Bayeux Tapestry. The nearly 1,000-year-old, 70-metre artwork depicts William the Conqueror’s invasion of England and the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
The tapestry has returned to England for the first time in more than 900 years as part of a major cultural exchange between Britain and France. It will open to the public at the British Museum on September 10 and remain on display until 2027.
