How the far right changed Europe’s migration policies | DW News


Across Europe, immigration policies and rhetoric that were once considered far-right have made its way into the mainstream. The European Parliament passed a law in June that is considered the harshest immigration law in the history of the EU, the slogan “Stop the boats” is being used by centrist political parties in the UK, and the once-fringe idea of “remigration” has entered the public debate. That’s despite the fact that far right parties have been blocked from governing in most European countries. How has the far right been able to advance its agenda without taking power?
