John Chambers ran Cisco through the dot-com bust. He will not bet against Nvidia | Sozzi Unleashed

John Chambers was Cisco’s chief executive from 1995 to 2015, through the boom and the bust. He tells Brian Sozzi there will be major AI train wrecks, that a rising tide does not raise all boats, and then, in the same breath, that he would not bet against Nvidia or Oracle ever.

He thinks those are the same position. The shakeout is what makes stock picking matter.

On 1999, he leads with the differences: the borrowing worries him, the balance sheets doing it do not. He expects national productivity growth of 3% to 5% a year. And the trade he actually names is not AI at all.
