Jimmy Chin: “I just outlast the problem”
Jimmy Chin has an Academy Award, a National Geographic career and thirty years of expeditions behind him. Elizabeth Gore asks what he is actually good at, and he names one thing: he can suffer. Her reply on camera is “masochism maybe.” Thirty seconds later he says “I just outlast the problem” and she stops the interview to call it the quote of the year.
He also explains where the method runs out. A class four avalanche caught him in the one week he said yes to four jobs at once. His new documentary, Everest: The Other Side, is out now.
