Growing fears of Moscow seizing money to fund war | DW News

US and British media are reporting that Russians are withdrawing increasing amounts of cash from the country’s banks amid fears that the Kremlin could soon seize deposits to fund its war in Ukraine. At the start of Moscow’s full-scale invasion, Russians already moved in large numbers to withdraw their private savings. Media reports suggest that the Kremlin’s difficulties in dealing with Ukraine’s intensifying drone attacks could be partly to blame, as more and more Russians feel the direct effects of the war. Just this week, Russian media reported that more than 70 percent of service stations nationwide had run out of fuel.
