The founder of China’s Evergrande real estate group has been sentenced to life in prison by a Chinese court. Hui Ka Yan pleaded guilty to several charges in April including fraud, bribery and embezzlement linked to his leadership of the property giant. Evergrande’s collapse five years ago shook China’s economy and the financial markets.
