Why Meta’s glasses and Apple’s watch raise the same consent problem
Apple’s new Audio Intelligence features let an Apple Watch transcribe the last 15 seconds of a conversation with a double press of the Digital Crown, and summarise a conversation afterwards. Apple says no audio recording is created and that it cannot access the data. Meanwhile Ray-Ban Meta glasses have an LED that shows when they are filming, and journalist Joanna Stern found modders who will drill it out.
