The US spends roughly $400 billion a year on long-term care, and for every 100 people over 65, only four formal caregivers exist. Humanoid robots like Abi, built by Andromeda to provide emotional companionship for dementia patients, are an early attempt to ease that pressure. Andromeda COO Jennifer Haroon, Brookings researcher Gopi Goda, 1X Chief Designer Dar Sleeper, and Nvidia’s Kimberly Powell discuss whether robots can truly help solve the elder care crisis, or whether the technology still has too far to go.
