Why Ari Emanuel never stops calling
Hollywood agent Ari Emanuel says he doesn’t have time for hello or goodbye in his constant stream of business calls each day.
“We’re just trying to get things done, and we’re moving on,” he said. “Not that I don’t care about the family and the kids, but let’s just be serious. We’re trying to get some business done.”
Emanuel, who inspired the character Ari Gold on HBO’s “Entourage,” has always relied on his relentless calling. He got an entry-level job in the mailroom at the Creative Artists Agency by calling the person in charge multiple times a day for 10 days straight.
“I’m not embarrassed,” Emanuel said of his approach.
“Trust me,” he later added, “I have gotten many noes, and I have, throughout my career, tried to prove those people wrong.”
