A Delhi content creator has spent nearly three months using cash instead of UPI for most of her daily expenses, saying the experiment changed the way she thinks about spending. Sadaf said physically seeing cash leave her hands made her more aware of small purchases and helped her avoid impulsive spending. She also cited concerns around payment privacy and recent discussions around possible charges on merchant UPI transactions. While she admitted that carrying cash and managing change can be inconvenient, Sadaf said she does not plan to return to using UPI for all her expenses.
