Regional elections in Pakistan-administered Kashmir have turned deadly. Since June, authorities have imposed partial lockdown and internet restrictions. The recently outlawed Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) is demanding the abolition of 12 assembly seats reserved for Kashmiri refugees and calls on residents to boycott the polls.
