WATCH: Trump tells Texas crowd, ‘Your neighbor is called New America’

Speaking at the first-ever Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas, President Donald Trump on Wednesday brought up his renaming of geographic locations by adding swapping in the word “America,” and floated the idea of changing a state name.

Amid his trade war with Canada, the president recently signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario as “Lake America.”

“Canada very much wants to make a deal. They’re dying to make a deal, but it’s going to be called Lake America,” Trump said.

Google and Apple have updated their maps apps to read Lake America for users in the United States. Maps for other users still show Lake Ontario.

The president also mentioned his social media posts about renaming New Mexico.

“We think it should be called ‘New America,'” Trump said. “The radical left I’m sure doesn’t like it, but the people love it. New America, your neighbor is called New America.”

The president has no legal authority to rename any state.
