It has been seven months since an audacious U.S. raid into the heart of Caracas turned Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro into a detainee and defendant in a U.S. courtroom.
The U.S. has supported Maduro’s former strongwoman, acting President Delcy Rodríguez, and sidelined opposition leader María Corina Machado, who gifted Trump her Nobel Peace Prize.
William Brownfield, a former U.S. ambassador to Venezuela who is now a senior adviser at CSIS, shared with host Nick Schifrin the importance of stabilization and recovery efforts in the country to assist the country’s next leader.
