WATCH: Sen. Lindsey Graham was ‘foundation of our family,’ niece says at Washington funeral service
Emillie Boggs Roberts, niece of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, spoke Tuesday at the Washington National Cathedral during a memorial service for the late lawmaker who died earlier this month at age 71.
“He wasn’t just an uncle, a brother, a nephew,” she said. “He was the foundation of our family. In our family, when you needed advice, a problem solved, or a helping hand, you turned to Lindsey.”
Hundreds came to pay their respects to the longtime lawmaker. President Donald Trump and Fox News host Sean Hannity were both expected to speak about Graham’s life and legacy. Several foreign dignitaries also attended the service, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Earlier in the day, Graham was recognized in a ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda, which included tributes from Rep. Sheri Biggs, R-S.C., Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., and Vice President JD Vance.
