US Midterm Election 2026 Result LIVE: Texas Senate Shock? Talarico Leads Trump-Backed Ken Paxton
Could Texas be heading towards a historic political upset? Democrat James Talarico is challenging Republican Ken Paxton in one of the most closely watched races of the 2026 US Midterm Elections. Early returns from major Texas counties have given Talarico sizable leads, raising fresh questions about Republican control of a traditionally red state.
President Donald Trump backed Paxton, while the Republican candidate’s political and legal controversies became a major issue during the campaign. Talarico sought to appeal to independents and moderate Republicans, focusing on the cost of living and accusations of political corruption. Paxton has denied wrongdoing and attacked Talarico as too progressive for Texas.
A Democratic victory could help reshape the balance of power in the US Senate and end the party’s decades-long drought in statewide Texas elections. Watch our LIVE coverage for the latest results, reactions, county updates and the national political fallout.
