The ongoing challenges facing our national parks

U.S. national parks have “always been underfunded,” says podcaster and longtime RV traveler Jason Epperson.

“It’s an interesting challenge because national parks and the National Park Service are one of the few issues that are very popular on both sides of the aisle, and it tends to be pretty easy to get supportive legislation through Congress,” he told PBS News’ Judy Woodruff. “It’s one of the few areas where there have been some real successes that both sides can point to over over the course of the last 20 years or so.”

Epperson, a longtime RV traveler and public lands podcaster, joined Woodruff for the latest episode of her podcast, “In Pursuit of Happiness,” to explore the stories behind some of the nation’s most iconic parks.
