The data center jobs leave when the builders do | The 8:30
Steve Sosnick of Interactive Brokers takes apart the defence the industry leans on hardest: the construction jobs are real and they are temporary, and once the building stops a handful of people run the place while the community keeps the power and the water bills. He calls it an economic sugar rush. It lands a day after the ad war against data centers paid off at the ballot box, with Dina Powell McCormick, President of Meta, telling the Wall Street Journal that building will be harder after the midterms and raising going overseas instead, and an Ohio mayor and two city commissioners voted out in the town where Meta is building.
