Supreme Court clears Trump’s mail-in voting order—why the fight is NOT OVER
The Supreme Court yesterday allowed President Trump’s executive order on mail-in ballots to move forward. The order –signed in March– calls for his administration to create a list of eligible voters and directs the U.S. Postal Service to deliver mail-in ballots only to people on those lists. The Supreme Court’s conservative majority didn’t decide on the legality of the executive order; it ruled that 23 states who sued did not have the legal right to challenge the order because the states could not show that there was sufficient harm by voting rules that had not yet taken effect.
