Rift between Democrats becomes focus of Michigan Senate race

Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed on Saturday said he didn’t agree with an outside group’s controversial ad that Rep. Haley Stevens, his former primary opponent, has called for him to denounce.

The two traded barbs Friday when Stevens issued a statement aimed at pressuring El-Sayed into denouncing the ad, which blames Americans’ struggles with high costs on US foreign aid for Israel.

CNN’s Brian Todd speaks with El-Sayed and CNN’s Manu Raju gets reaction to friction in the Michigan race from his Inside Politics panel. Also, CNN’s Victor Blackwell speaks with Michigan journalist Zach Gorchow.
