RAF airbase: Five arrested on suspicion of preparing terrorist act | DW News
Five men have been arrested near RAF Fairford in southwest England on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. They were initially detained over suspected explosives offences after police received a report of three suspicious vehicles apparently travelling towards the air base.
Counterterrorism police are leading the investigation. Army bomb-disposal specialists have been examining the vehicles, and around 85 nearby households were advised to evacuate. RAF Fairford is used by US forces involved in the war with Iran, but police have not confirmed that the base was the intended target or identified a motive.
