Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the plenary session of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, outlining a comprehensive strategy to accelerate Russia’s economic pivot to the Asia-Pacific region. Speaking alongside Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who attended as the main guest of honor, Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, and other regional leaders, Putin emphasized a new development model for the Far East and Arctic regions slated for implementation through 2036. Highlighting ‘unprecedented’ bilateral relations, Putin projected that trade turnover between Russia and China is on track to set a new record by the end of 2026, building upon the nearly $240 billion recorded in 2025. In preceding remarks, the Russian president dismissed rumors of an impending military mobilization as ‘complete nonsense’ while asserting that Russian forces continue to advance on the battlefield in Ukraine. The four-day forum, themed ‘The Far East: Development for the Benefit of People,’ has brought together over 5,000 representatives from 80 countries to discuss international cooperation, logistics, infrastructure, and investment.
