Pilot ejected safely before F-35 jet crash, Marine Corps says
A Marine Corps fighter jet crashed Friday at Miramar Air Station in California, erupting into flames and sending a plume of smoke into the air.
The F-35B stealth fighter jet appeared to go down just short of the runway.
Fire crews covered the wreckage with foam and worked to extinguish a grass fire sparked by the crash.
The pilot ejected safely and was recovered. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
