Pentagon crowdsources how to ‘punish Iran’: Ex-general reacts

President Donald Trump says negotiations with Iran will start this afternoon, claiming “there’s a deal” on the Strait of Hormuz with an agreement to follow on the “denuclearization of Iran.” Iran contradicted Trump’s claims, denying that talks with the US are planned.

In a message preceding Trump’s threat to attack Iran, a US military officer emailed troops seeking “new creative and unconventional ways to pressure and punish Iran.” The query is a sign of the limited options available to the president to force Iran into a deal on his terms.
