The price of white onion touched nearly Rs. 100 per kg in some parts of the country, , while red onion touched Rs. 60 to Rs. 70 per kg. Common people are finding it difficult to buy onions in bulk in many parts of the country. The Centre began selling onions at ₹35 per kg through Kanda Express to contain a seasonal rise in retail prices.
