Netanyahu details attack on FlyDubai flight
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said a pilot is under arrest after he apparently attempted to crash a FlyDubai flight Wednesday.
Netanyahu said the pilot had stabbed the other pilot mid-flight and tried to sabotage the plane’s systems. Nearly all aboard the flight from Dubai to Israel were Israeli, he said.
According to Netanyahu, a passenger and crew member were able to enter the cockpit and “neutralize” the pilot who had attacked.
“Additional flight crew on board entered the cockpit and managed to stabilize the aircraft,” he said, adding, “I salute these heroes who showed exceptional resourcefulness and courage.”
The flight landed safely at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Airport, also known as Tabuk Airport, in Saudi Arabia before returning to Israel.
Netanyahu said he has alerted the Israeli security establishment to prepare for additional potential security threats.
