Police in Madhya Pradesh are probing claims that government rice intended for an ethanol plant was diverted before reaching its destination.
To increase ethanol blending and cut reliance on imported fossil fuels, the Union government has allowed surplus foodgrains — including rice held by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) — to be supplied to ethanol producers.
