McGurk: Iran has been ‘vexing problem’ for the U.S.
In his new book “Brink,” Brett McGurk discusses how U.S. presidents attempted to deal with Iran.
McGurk served under four presidential administrations, most recently as President Joe Biden’s national security staff coordinator for the Middle East.
On Iran, McGurk told Compass Points host Nick Schifrin that President Donald Trump is “now grappling with something every president since Jimmy Carter has grappled with – how to deal with this revolutionary ideological system.”
“It’s a vexing, vexing problem,” he added.
Compass Points from PBS News analyzes prominent international affairs topics and America’s role in a shifting world, breaking down global conflicts, rising tensions, and their implications for U.S. interests. Visit the PBS News website to watch this week’s episode.
