Manchester City guilty of nearly 115 financial charges

The Premier League says Manchester City is guilty of nearly all 115 financial charges it faced in one of the biggest scandals in English soccer history.

An independent commission found the club created sham contracts and artificially boosted its income by more than a billion dollars over nearly a decade.

The Abu Dhabi-backed team now faces punishments ranging from points deductions to fines to even expulsion from the league.

Manchester City denies all charges, saying the findings contain “errors of law, principle, and fact.” It has until Friday to file an appeal.
