Low-level agents – the new face of sabotage? | DW News


They aren’t trained spies, just ordinary people: low-level agents are recruited to do small acts of sabotage for small amounts of money. Those may include damaging cars, transporting packages or trailing people. The strategy behind it? The person doing the “dirty work” is harder to connect directly to the people behind the operation. The agent taking the money might not even know who they’re ultimately working for. While these practices are nothing new, German authorities have noticed an uptick, oftentimes linked to foreign intelligence networks.
