LIVE | Xi’s 800-Passenger ‘Flying Wing’: China’s New Aircraft Set To Challenge Boeing & Airbus?

China is testing a radical flying-wing passenger aircraft concept that could eventually carry more than 800 people, potentially exceeding the capacity of today’s largest commercial jets. Developed as a research project by the China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center, the design replaces the conventional tube-and-wing layout used by Boeing and Airbus with a giant lifting-wing configuration. The proposed aircraft could have an 85-metre wingspan and cruise around Mach 0.8. The project remains in the research stage, with no full-scale prototype announced.
