LIVE: UN and Swiss delegation speak after Sudan talks in Geneva
Pekka Haavisto, the UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy for Sudan, and the Swiss delegation will hold a briefing at the end of a meeting on peace initiatives and efforts in Sudan.
The meeting comes a day after South Sudanese officials said Sudan’s military carried out drone strikes that hit a market in the disputed Abyei region, killing more than 150 people. The attack was the latest in a series of strikes during one of the bloodiest weeks of a war that has spilled across Sudan’s borders.
