A teardown of Russia’s jet-powered Geran-4 attack drone found extensive foreign-origin components, including U.S. chips, British Raspberry Pi microcomputers, Chinese engines and electronics linked to Taiwan, Germany, Japan and Switzerland. Ukrainian intelligence identified at least 45 foreign components and eight unidentified parts, while RFE/RL concluded that nearly all of the drone’s electronics were foreign-made. The findings point to continuing sanctions-evasion and re-export vulnerabilities, not proof that Western governments or named manufacturers knowingly armed Russia.
