LIVE | Putin’s Drone War Gets Cheaper: Is Russia’s ‘Iva’ Missile Based on Iranian Design? | Ukraine
Footage from Russia’s Rostov region has shown troops operating an unfamiliar shoulder-fired air-defence weapon, prompting speculation that Moscow may be using an Iranian Misagh-series missile against Ukrainian drones. Some reporting identified the system as a Misagh-2, an Iranian infrared-guided, fire-and-forget MANPADS with Chinese technological roots. However, independent visual analysis has challenged that conclusion, saying the launcher may more closely resemble Chinese QW-18, QW-18A or QW-19 systems. The weapon’s precise identity, supplier and operational use remain unconfirmed.
