LIVE | NATO on Alert? US Ally Mass-Producing Laser and EMP Weapons to Destroy Drones

Russia is reportedly preparing to mass-produce laser and electromagnetic-pulse weapons designed to counter the growing threat posed by drones, as tensions with NATO continue to rise. Russia’s state arms exporter says the counter-drone systems are in the final stages of testing, but has not disclosed their names, capabilities or deployment timelines. Laser weapons can damage drone structures and sensors, while electromagnetic-pulse systems aim to disrupt onboard electronics. However, their battlefield effectiveness will depend on detection, tracking, operating conditions and verified performance. Could these emerging technologies strengthen Russia’s defences against NATO’s expanding drone capabilities?
