LIVE: Israeli Navy Intercepts Gaza-Bound Flotilla, Greta Thunberg Detained | Global Sumud Flotilla


The Global Sumud Flotilla, a coalition of over 40 vessels carrying approximately 500 activists—including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg—set sail to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, challenging Israel’s maritime blockade. On October 1, 2025, Israeli naval forces intercepted the flotilla approximately 70 nautical miles from Gaza’s coast. The Israeli military detained the activists and redirected the vessels to the port of Ashdod. Israeli authorities confirmed that Greta Thunberg was among those detained but assured that she and other passengers were “safe and healthy.
