LIVE: Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth and General Dan Caine testify before Senate panel on budget —4/30/26

The Senate Armed Services Committee holds a hearing to review President Donald Trump’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget request for the Department of Defense with Secretary Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine and Pentagon comptroller Jules Hurst on Thursday.

Hegseth defended the length and price of the conflict Wednesday, in his first appearance before Congress since the war started. Hurst, who also testified, said the war’s cost is estimated at $25 billion so far.
