Legendary baseball pitcher Tommy John dies at 83
Legendary baseball pitcher Tommy John, best known for his return to the sport after undergoing a groundbreaking but risky elbow reconstruction, has died. He was 83.
The elbow procedure he underwent is now known as Tommy John surgery. His career flourished in the years that followed his surgery. Thousands of other players have seen their own successful returns from the operation.
