Jihadists kill, kidnap dozens in Nigeria’s Niger state | DW News
Nigerian authorities say dozens have been killed or abducted in suspected jihadist attacks on villages in its north-western Niger state. Witnesses say one attack occurred at a mosque during Friday prayers in the Borgu region. Several villages in the area were also attacked. Nigeria has been battling a long running insurgency by jihadist groups, in which mass abductions have become a key tactic. Armed groups have been increasing their activities in the region in recent months. DW News is joined from Abuja by our correspondent Uwaisu Idris.
