India’s $25 Billion Deep Tech Push: Can It Catch Up With U.S. And China?
India is putting together a massive $25 billion fund to boost its deep tech startups, reduce dependence on foreign technology, and compete with the US and China. Deep tech covers areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, drones and space technology. Over the past decade India invested about $11.6 billion in the sector; the new fund will sharply scale that up. The government has already committed $11 billion through an R&D infrastructure fund, with additional capital taking the total to $25 billion.
