How North Korea is stronger now than Trump’s first term
North Korea is in a stronger place globally than it was during the first Trump presidency, says Rachel Lee.
Kim Jong Un “has a strong relationship with Russia. The Chinese want to court him, and now you have President Trump reaching out to him constantly, so he must think that he has a lot of leverage,” Lee said. “He’s in the best possible place that he can be in right now.”
Lee, a senior fellow for the Stimson Center’s 38 North project, joined Nick Schifrin for the latest episode of Compass Points about North Korea’s relationship with the United States.
