How a Ukrainian soldier’s video diary became a Reuters documentary
Ukrainian soldier Serhii Krynitskyi lived in a foxhole beneath the front lines near Chasiv Yar for 346 days. To pass the time, the 42-year-old filmed video diaries which his brigade then posted on YouTube after Krynitskyi’s deployment ended. The videos attracted the interest of Felix Hoske, a Reuters visuals producer based in Kyiv, who went on to make a documentary about Krynitskyi’s deployment.
