From the archives: Panamanian dictator Noriega convicted, sentenced to 40 years in U.S. prison
Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega was convicted of drug trafficking and other charges on April 9, 1992, two years after he surrendered to U.S. troops at the Vatican embassy in Panama City and was flown to Florida to stand trial. Noriega was then sentenced to serve 40 years in a U.S. prison on July 10, 1992. CBS Evening News reported on the news at the time.
