F-35, F-15s, Reapers: What Really Happened To America’s Warplanes In Iran?
At least 81 U.S. military aircraft were reportedly lost or damaged during the Iran war, according to a Congressional Research Service report. The toll includes 45 MQ-9 Reaper drones, 12 F-15E Strike Eagles (4 destroyed, 8 damaged), one F-35A Lightning II damaged by ground fire, A-10s, KC-135 tankers, and several special-operations helicopters. The reported aircraft losses and damage are valued at up to $3.3 billion. Separately, the cost of U.S. weapons used in the conflict has surged by more than $6 billion in just over a month, rising from $21.7 billion to $28.1 billion, according to Congressional Budget Office and U.S. Central Command figures.
