Despite judge’s order, Trump insists golf course to close
In Washington, D.C., President Donald Trump insists the East Potomac Golf Course will close next month for renovations, despite a federal judge’s order temporarily blocking major changes to the property.
Monday night, Judge Ana Reyes extended that order after hundreds of trees had already been cut down.
In her 70-page opinion, she also blasted government lawyers for misrepresenting Trump’s plans, writing, “Rarely, if ever, has the United States Department of Justice urged a federal court not to believe the sitting president.”
The president responded by saying that the judge has “absolutely no right to hold up” his plans to make the site what he calls a championship-level course.
Trump says his administration will appeal the ruling.
