Defense rests in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial
The defense rested its case Friday in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, the mother charged with strangling and killing her three young children in Massachusetts.
Clancy’s lawyers argue she should not be held criminally responsible because she suffered from postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors say the killings were planned.
On Thursday, hundreds of Clancy supporters wore pink and gathered outside the courthouse. Many said they hope the case raises awareness about how the mental health system treats women.
Prosecutors began calling rebuttal witnesses Friday, with closing arguments expected next week.
