Construction of UFC arena begins at White House grounds
In the South Lawn of the White House, construction is underway for an octagon-shaped cage to host next month’s UFC bout.
A giant arch is already looming over the historic mansion.
The mixed martial arts event is part of celebrations to mark 250 years of American independence and is scheduled for June 14, which is both Flag Day and President Donald Trump’s birthday.
Trump has been a longtime supporter of the UFC, or Ultimate Fighting Championship, and was the first sitting president to attend a fight.
When finished, the temporary arena is expected to hold 5,000 people.
