Captive breeding offers hope for Guatemala’s rare lizard

Guatemala’s La Aurora Zoo announced the birth of three Heloderma charlesbogerti hatchlings, a species also known as the scorpion lizard or “nino dormido,” which means “sleeping boy” in Spanish. The births mark a step forward in the conservation of the endemic species, which is among the world’s most threatened reptiles.
