Canva’s Massive Layoffs: Free MacBooks, 6 Months Salary, and $10,000 Grants
Graphic design giant Canva is eliminating 1,271 roles — roughly 22% of its global workforce across 37 countries — as part of a sweeping corporate restructuring. Co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins described the decision as “the hardest moment in our 13-year history.” The company aims to centralise product teams, simplify management layers and make Sydney the primary hub for more roles. Affected employees will receive at least six months’ salary, can keep their MacBooks, and may apply for $10,000 startup grants under a new Canva Collective Fund.
